slot tips and recommendations
Players who prefer slot machines to other casino games do not gamble simply for profit, but they also want to have a good time playing. So in order to play the game for longer and benefit from your favorite slot games we recommend you to follow some slots tips that have been developed by experienced players. They will help not to lose at slot machines or online slots of different types and become a real long-term winner regardless the size of the bankroll.
If you are going to visit a land or online casino to get the rush and thrill of slot machines do not forget to follow some basic slot recommendations. Even if you do not use any special slot machine strategies you can still end up a winner every time you gamble. So, below we explain some do's and don'ts when you play slots.
How to win at slot machines? Is there a way to do that or it’s just pure luck? The answer is: it’s complicated. Slot machines are by their nature a game of luck and despite what you may read or heard, there is NO way to insure a win on slot machine. And yet, by using the information you can gather online you can significantly increase your winning odds.
By the way, by choosing to play slots online you are already half way there. Online slot machines payout rates are in general much higher than in land slots, therefore by playing real money slots online, you already have higher chances to walk way with some cash than in any brick and mortar casino.
Before we go deeper, here is a quick summary so you could skip to the part that interests you more:
Unlike in land casinos, where there is no official information on the return of the specific game, many online slots providers post exact RTP of each slot. It’s surprising how many players ignore this valuable information. You would never buy a jacket or laptop without checking it’s price, and you shouldn’t do that here as well.
It’s impossible to list the payout of all online slots, but we prepared an updated rating of Loosest Slot Machines available online. Below, you can also find links to loosest slots by software. In the end of the day, playing slot machines with 98% payout vs. 88% will be worth a lot of money.
Not all bonuses are actually beneficial. In fact, many bonuses will only bound you to various terms and lower your odds. However, due to fierce competition, there are some great slots bonuses available online, if you know how to pick them up.
In fact, some of the best online casinos offer welcome bonuses that will bring your expected RTP above 100%. Meaning, you will have have and edge over the house . How is that possible? Simple. Some solid and reputable online casinos are sure that due to their superb service and wide game selection, you will stick around and become a regular player. Therefore, they don’t mind loosing on your first deposits and offer great bonuses. Here you can find a list of Best Cashable Bonuses with lowest wagering requirements.
3. Online Slot Machines are Smarter
You probably heard the word RNG. If not, RNG or random number generator is the algorithm behind all slot machines; program that every time you hit “Spin” chooses which symbols to show. There are many myths surrounding it and many write that it can be predicted in certain way- well, that’s not true. It cannot. Still, there are certain features in online slots that can generate you an advantage.
Hitting “Spin” on land slots is like throwing a coin- it doesn’t matter what happened in 100 previous times, each time the chances are similar. Online slot machines are “smarter”. They do remember what happened before- that way the casino can shorten the periods of loosing and winning streaks and keep the payout rate closer to what its programmed, which is something they want (prevents one player from winning again and again and on the other hand, shortens the losing streaks and gives each player to win from time to time so he will keep playing).
Some might say here: “That doesn’t make sense. That way a player can sit each time till the slot machine pays and cash out and the casino will go bankrupt.” That’s not true of course. First, the casino set’s the payout below 100%, therefore in the long run, the house will keep a certain percentage of the total bets. Second, online casinos and slot machines are different. In land based casinos, only one player can play the specific slot at that time, but online, there can be dozen and even hundreds of players playing the same slot machine at the same time and although the slot would pay up, none of the players can know to whom.
So how we can still use it in our advantage and increase our chances?
Rule #1: Know when to stop. To be more precise: know when to leave the slot machine and move on to the next. If you hit the jackpot or had a nice streak (our thumb rule is that you reached 10 times your original amount)-that’s the time to move on. Personally, after getting a nice win, I make few additional spins and then move on. Eventually the slot needs to level up and after going *10 times up, i don’t want to be there to see that happens.
The last tip, at least in this article is not easy to follow and we suggest it only for those with extreme patience and high bankroll (1000$/£/€).
Rule #2: Don’t switch slots every few spins. The idea behind this rule is similar to the previous one, but this part is harder. If you are playing one slot for some time, eventually it has to pay- so it’s better to stick to one slot machine till it pays. The problem here, as we stated before, is that you are probably not the only one that is playing this specific slot machine. That’s why you should go for slots that are less popular. How to find them- just avoid the ones that are most visible, not the ones at the top of the table.
I am not a very patient man and I rarely use this strategy. The only times i do use it is when I test a new online casino. Since the casino is new, I know that there are almost no players that visit it, combined with some not very popular slot, the chances are high that I am the only one that is sitting on this particular slot. With new casinos, 7 out of 10 times that I tried this method- it worked. And don’t forget, the payout rate of most online casinos is around 96-98%, so you don’t need much. You just need a little bit of patience to turn the odds in your favor.
Last and not least: Slots are not about making money, but fun and excitement.

This is the first part in a new series we are running on how you can get the most from your online slots play.
It is true to say that the odds are set against you when you play a slot machine, but at the same time, you can improve your chance of winning. This allows you to get more fun from your money and a bigger chance of hitting a jackpot.
When you play in a land-based casino, the big question is how to choose a machine and also, whether to max bet or not. With online slots, the bonus offers are a big factor. We discuss both of those below:
Decide Whether to Max Bet or Not
Some slot machines pay out better when you play max bet. For example, on some 3-reel games, if you hit a line of the top-paying symbols you might win (for example) 1,000 credits if you play 1 credit per line.
But, if you had been playing max credits per line (for example, 3 credits), then the top win might rise to 10,000.
In this type of example, you should play max bet, because if you hit that top winning line, you stand to win a lot more than you would otherwise
With other games, it makes no difference whether you max bet. For example, most video slots pay out the same, no matter how many credits per line you play.
One exception with video slots, is when there is a progressive jackpot. If you play a game like Wizard of Oz, which has a big progressive, you can only win if you play max bet. The max bet is usually $3 or $4 per spin, so you need quite a lot of money to play, but you get much better odds when you max bet.
If you don't have enough to max bet, then I would say it is better to choose a slot with a lower domination that does not have a progressive.
So, if you like penny slots, search for a jackpot you can win without max bet
Decide if a Bonus is Good for You (or not)
With online casinos, you will nearly always be offered the chance to take up one of their 'free cash' bonuses.
With a free cash bonus, the casino will match you initial deposit. for example, if you deposit $100, they will give you an extra $100, so you will start your play with a total of $200 (this is a 100% bonus)
Other casinos go further than that - some will offer 200%, 300% or even 400% bonuses. With a 400% bonus, if you deposit $100, you will get $400 extra, meaning that you get to play with $500 in total.
Of course, all casino bonuses come with terms and conditions. If you take a 'free cash' bonus, the casino will expect you to actually play with the money. If they didn;t inforce a minimum play rule, then people would just take the cash and run!
So, with a bonus, you must play through the bonus a certain number of times. Usually, this means you have to play 25x the total (of deposit + bonus) before they will allow you to cash out the winnings.
These bonuses are fantastic to play jackpot games, because you get so much more chance to hit the big jackpot. To win at slots with jackpots, bonuses are a perfect tool to give you the best odds.
However, bonuses might not be so good for the type of player that just wants to hit a $200 win playing slots and cash out straight away, because of the need to complete a play-through.
So, you need to decide yourself what type of player you are and then decide whether you will take your bonus offer or not. That will help give you the best chance of winning, depending on what type of win you are going for.
Slot Tips: How I Found the Best Way to Win at Slots
Get an inside look at the best winning slot tips around and find out how you can turn a losing streak into a profitable online gambling profession.
Let me be honest with you. The first time I turned to Google to search for 'slots tips and tricks, I expected to be only one click away from the slots tips that would change my life forever.
I was a bit like you are now: in love with online slots games but frustrated by my poor results.
I thought some quick and easy slots tips could help me to win big (finally!) and so I started to buy e-books about the Best Slots Machine Tips – EVER! and I watched an insane amount of YouTube clips about the best casino slots tips and tricks that work, but only when someone else used them.
I was broke and unhappy; I wanted to play, and I wanted to win, but it all seemed impossible.
The Online Slots Tips That Changed My Bankroll
At that time, I used to blog a lot about my life. I used to write about politics, to publish images of my family and, occasionally, to rant about my poor results at online gambling. I have always been honest and open about being a professional gambler, and I never made a mystery of my losses, too.
I live out of casino gambling. I bought my house with my winnings, and I know I am good at what I do. That's why I don't want to lie and to pretend that I never lose.
Yes, sometimes I lose money, it happens to everyone.
My proven bankroll management strategy and the right approach to gambling are what help me to stay in the black and to keep my bank account just as fat as I need it to be.
If you are serious about gambling, make sure you read this article about bankroll management as you'll have to deal with downswings more often than you think.

It took me a lot of time to get where I am today, and I like to think that this happened (also) because I met someone who taught me some of the wisest tips for winning at slots.
It all started from a rant on my blog.
I described one of my regular online slots sessions, and a fellow professional gambler left a comment to say that I was doing it all wrong. After that, we had a short email conversation that soon developed into a long Skype chat. A chat that changed my approach to online slots forever.
Slots Tip #1. Never Underestimate the Game
If you think slots are an easy game to play, you are wrong. I know it does not take a Nobel Prize graduate to understand how to deposit some money at an online casino and push the buttons on the screen but – hey, we are talking about tips to win at slots, not just to play slots.
When was the last time you truly understood the paylines? And how about the last time the reels showed you a combination that you were sure qualified for a win…even if it didn't?
The number one reason that made me lose my money at slots was that I didn't take the game seriously enough. I thought I could just pick one slot machine and play. I was sure my choice would not make any difference.
That was pretty stupid.
How to Win at Slots 101: Know the Basics
The first tip to win at slots my 'mentor' shared with me was to make sure I always knew the basics of the game I wanted to play. Shiny reels and bonus rounds are good but: what about the payout percentage? What about the multipliers? And what about the bet sizes?
You don't care about this when you choose the next game to play, admit it.
Every slot machine has different betting limits, so a great trick to win at slots is to understand how much every spin is going to cost you before you push the button, not after your money is already gone.
Open an account at EnergyCasino TODAY to play the best game of 2017 with 15 FREE SPINS - no deposit / no credit card required!
Think about how many times you pushed the button and then went on to say "On no! Did I just spin for $2,50!?"
Focus, pay attention and make sure you always know what you are doing. When you open a slots game you don't know, play around with the coin value and the number of lines to know exactly the cost of your spins. This dirty trick will save your (gambling) life.
Always choose a slot machine with a high payout percentage and big jackpot amounts. If you play at a slot machine with a 70 percent payout and at one with a 98 percent payout, one victory from the 98 percent payout machine will be more than the two victories from 70 percent payout one.
If you are not sure about the payouts, you can ask to the casino support or just use Google.
Know that ROI Is the Key to Winning Slots
Profit is all about getting more than what you put in. This basic concept can be measured by return on investment (ROI). Smart gamblers think about ROI all the time, and the site Investopedia defines ROI (or, Return On Investment) as:
A performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment or to compare the efficiency of some different investments
If you are not familiar with this concept, here's a quick formula that helps you understand if the outcomes of what you are about to do are worth the effort.
The cheapest slots are not always the best choice. Sure, if you play those games you are less likely to lose big sums but what if you win? Are those the games that give you the life-changing cash win of your dreams?
Cheap slots are not your friends because the winnings they distribute are so small that, very often, are not even large enough to cover your losses. We all know that bonus rounds are hard to come by, so, imagine if you had to chase three or four of them during every single session just to even out.
That would be insane.
One of the best slot tips I’ve ever heard is to drop the cheapest slots and focus on those that cost a little more but give you access to serious prizes. And to do this cum grano salis (with a grain of salt) as the Romans would say, let's jump right onto my next essential tip to win at slots.
Know Your Limits When Playing Slots!
You need to be serious about your bankroll. If you start to play casino games to win, you need to set three important rules:
- Never lose more than you can afford
- Never try to win more than you can
- Know how to manage your bankroll
The one about the bankroll is easy. Some time ago, I wrote an article titled "The No-Nonsense Guide to Managing Your Bankroll". Go through it and get all the tips you need to develop a downswing-proof strategy.
The other two rules are the tough ones.
Every time you open an online casino site (or you go to a brick-and-mortar one), you need to know exactly how much money you are going to invest in your games. You need to know how much you can afford to lose (it will happen), and you need to know how much you want to win.
If you win the amount of money you set before your session started, stop right there and enjoy the money. There's a good chance that your stroke of luck will end soon, and you will lose everything you worked hard for.
You need to stop also right when you hit the negative limit. If your luck isn't working, there's no reason to insist. And no, the next spin is not going to be the lucky one: even if you really feel it.
Slots Tip #2: Choose the Right Slot Games
I wrote about this in an article titled "10 Gambling Secrets Professional Gamblers Won’t Tell You" and while I invite you to read that page to know some juicy details, one of my best tips / tricks / advice - you choose the word you prefer – is to always pick the most popular slots or the newest ones.
Online casinos invest way too much money on their products to let them fail. The development of a game like the Guns N'Roses online slots kept a team of developers and designers at NetEnt busy for over a year – and that cost money.
The need to get their investment back and they know that no one is going to play games that don't pay. Every time you meet someone who tells you that "the shiniest slots are created only to steal your money," ask them if they are in the red or the black.
Stay away from the losers. All they do is whine and blame 'the system' for their poor results. While they should blame themselves for sticking to myths that were created by professional losers who needed only one thing: a justification for their failures.
Slots Tip #3: Avoid the 'Slots Tips that Work’ Stuff YouTube
Before writing these next few lines, I went on YouTube and I typed "best tips to win at slots" on the site's search bar. My search resulted in more than 62,000 videos that all promised me the same thing: to give me some tips to win at slot.
Guess what. None of those kept the initial promise.
WOW !Look at all these slots tips videos on YouTube!
While I do understand that some videos give you some generic and useful information, most of them are just full of blatant lies, of stories that someone made up to sell you their products.
Slot machines are not games like Street Fighter or Tekken, where you only had to push the button in the right sequence to crush your opponents. Slots are a totally different piece of software that can't be hacked.
No, you cannot 'hadouken' your online slots
Even if you could hack online slots, be sure you would not be able to withdraw your winnings. Here's an important tip: every time someone tries to sell you some slots tricks, system, or tips, run away from them.
Slots Tip #4: Use the Bonuses and Free Spins!
If you are one of those who believe that bonuses are something online casino rooms put up to steal their players' money, I have some news for you: times have changed.
More than that, the internet has changed. Gambling has changed. With the way people use tools like Facebook, Twitter, forums, and blogs a fake promotion would backfire almost instantly.
Sites like the ones we included in our list of rogue online casinos have been destroyed by their users. They didn't keep their promises and they got what they deserved.
If you are not sure about what bonus is best for you, I have an article for you. Check out this page titled "Deposit Bonus vs. No Deposit Bonus: What's Best For You?" and look at the different options available.
Then, just head to our free spins bonus page or browse through our list of online casino bonuses to get exactly what you need. Free money to get started and to play real money games at no cost.

Winning at slots is something we all wish would come easy. How nice would it be to be able to sit down at any slot machine in the world and watch money come pouring into your hands? Sadly enough this is never the case. There is no secret that will have slots paying you in large amounts, but there are a few tips you can use to cut back to fewer losing sessions and more winning sessions. The following article will explain how to win at slots, how slot machines really work and what you need to know to maximize your winnings.
Winning at Slots - How to Win on Slot Machines
Winning on slot machines is something we would all love to say that we do. If there was a basic set of "actual skills" one could learn that would enable them to always win at slots, then this article would be pretty boring. The truth about winning at slots is that a large portion of your winnings stem from luck. As much as we all like to think that our slot wins come from the way we pull the handle or position our tongues in our mouthes, that is just not the case. However, winning at slots is not impossible, and if you can understand how the slot machines work then you will be one or two sessions away from being in the green.
Understanding How A Slot Machine Works and In Order To Win
In order to win at slots you must first understand how they work. The slots that are around today are not the same as the ones your grandfather used to play. They are, however, programmed to make you think that they are the same. Today's slots are powered by microprocessors that use random number generators (RNGs) to determine the outcome of the spins. They use many tricks to take advantage of the uninformed. For example, you may notice a machine lines up more symbols in reels one and two but hardly completes the winning combination with reel three. This is all programmed on purpose to give you that "almost9quot; feeling and to keep the suspense up. You may also notice that one of the reels is often one symbol away from completing that big payout combination. This is also purposely programmed into the machine's processor to show "near misses" from time to time to give the false impression that a player is getting close to a jackpot. If you read the rest of this article you will know that a machine is never due for a big hit, nor is it ever going to hit a good payout just because it almost hit that payout a few spins ago.
What is a RNG? Why Do Slots Use Random Number Generators and Will That Impact My Chances of Winning on a Slot Machine?
RNG stand for random number generator. This is the mechanism inside the slot machine computer that generates thousands of random numbers per second (in sets of 3 or 5 numbers, depending on the number of reels), and at the exact moment a player triggers a spin the RNG spits out a combination of numbers that then become the combination that the reels stop at. This means that the outcome of every spin is random. For example, if a player leaves a machine and a new player sits down and wins the jackpot, the previous player may feel bad about not staying for one last spin, but what we have to understand is that in order for the first player to have won that jackpot, he would have had to press the spin button at the very same second, exactly, to win that very same spin. If he would have pulled it one second later, the combination would have been entirely different.
This random number concept is the hardest concept for most slots players to grasp. It's not just about winning at the slots, but why players will lose. Most players think if a slot machine has not hit a big payout in a while, then it is certainly due. This is another false assumption. Theoretically, a machine could hit a jackpot back to back, although thisoccurrence is highly unlikely.
So if the numbers are generated completely at random, then why does a machine sometimes feel hot or cold? A machine is never really hot or cold. Over the long-run, a machine will stick to its payback percentage. This is not to say that in the short-run something different may occur.
Think about flipping a coin. Fifty percent of the time it lands on heads, and the other fifty percent of the time it lands on tails. If you only flip the coin 20 times to test this, you may get skewed results. If you flipped the coin 4,000 times you would have a heads to tails ratio of about 50:50. The only catch with the slots is that the outcomes of the reels are weighted. The jackpot is much less likely to hit than any bar, any bar, any bar.
Example (this is just an example and not an actual scenario): Let us say that a slot reel has 50 reel stops. Stops 1-25 are blanks, stop 26 is the jackpot symbol, stops 27-40 are cherries, stops 41-50 are bars. It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that you have a two percent chance of getting a jackpot symbol on the given reel. So the way it all works is that there is a separate map of numbers and symbols for each reel (click here for visual example), and the random number generator is spitting out sets of three numbers between 1 and 50. Upon pressing the spin button, the three random numbers generated are 44-41-18, which would result in an outcome of bar bar blank. The outcome of a spin is totally random, but the odds of that outcome are weighted. If you would like to know more about random number generators click here.
What is Payback Percentage on a Slots Machine and How Does It Affect Winning
All slots have a payback percentage programmed into their processors that determine the houses edge. This percentage is a theoretical percentage and is only proven over the long-term. If a slot machine has a 97% payback rate then, over the long-term, it should payback 97% of the money it takes in. The payback percentage varies from slot to slot but usually is in the 90-97% range. For the most part, the higher denomination machines will have higher payback. This makes sense because the casinos want their high roller players to win more often to keep them coming back and spending money. In reference to online casinos, the payback varies depending on the software provider. Most online slot machines have a payback in the 95-97% range. As a player, you will want to find the machines with the highest payback. The only way to do this is to play around. Record your play and keep track of which slots payout what overtime. or just check out our list of loose online slots.
How To Become a Consistant Slots Winner
In order to be a more consistent winner at slots, you must know how slots work. You must also know that the odds of hitting a jackpot are slim. With these two simple pieces of knowledge in mind, you can narrow your machine selection down to a few preferred machines that will give you the best chance of winning.
What Are True Multipliers and What Does It Have To Do With Winning At The Slots?
After clearing your head of all the slot myths out there, you should look for machines that have modest jackpots and are true multipliers. A true multiplier machine is one that pays twice the amount in payouts for the second coin as it does for the first coin. It is best to avoid machines that penalize the player for not playing the maximum bet. If you can't find a true multiplier, look for a near-true multiplier which usually has a slightly bigger (relative) jackpot for the second coin.
The reason you want to find a true multiplier is so you can move up a denomination. By only needing to play one coin, you should be able to afford this. Moving up in coin size will benefit you since most higher denomination slot machines have higher paybacks. The reason you want to choose a machine with a modest jackpot is because the odds of hitting a 1200 coin jackpot are better than hitting a 50,000 coin jackpot. The odds on progressive slots jackpots can be pretty ridiculous when compared to a simple 3-reel slot with a low jackpot.
4 Tips To Winning On A Slot Machine
To better the chances of having a winning slots session, it is imperative for a player to:
2. Know which machines offer the best odds.
3. Stay away from machines with lower payback. If a machine feels tight, find a different one.
4. Quit while you are ahead.
Those 4 simple winning slot tips can be the difference between winning most of the time and losing most of the time. Quitting while you are ahead is a very important tip that too few people take seriously. Slot machines are programmed to make money in the long haul, and if you play the same one long enough it WILL beat you. Good luck!
